Owner of Helga’s Pancake House in Cairns, Birgit Machnitzke, has detailed her concerns about Australia’s move towards a cashless society.

Ms Machnitzke described the gradual decline in cash, especially towards her business, like a “spiral going downhill” and has put up a sign urging customers to use cash.

“I thought I’d put up a sign just to increase a little bit of awareness of how important cash is, especially for our region,” Ms Machnitzke told Tom Elliott on 3AW Mornings.
