Sportsday host backs global interest in Spring Racing Carnival

Shane McInnes is a fan of the growing global interest in our major Spring Racing Carnival meets.

There are seven international horses in the Caulfield Cup this year and he told Sportsday more influence from overseas interests enhances the race locally.

“If we want to be the best and showcase the best, we have to invite the best,” he said.

“Whether it’s Caulfield or Flemington, I don’t want to just see the best Australian horses run, I want to see the best in the world.”

“Look at the Australian Open and Grand Prix, those events are enhanced by their international element.”

“I think that applies to horse racing too.”
