State Government and the City of Melbourne take Carlton pub developers to VCAT

Ross and Russel

Developers who illegally demolished Carlton’s Corkman Pub may be ordered to rebuild it brick by brick. The State Government along with City of Melbourne will today launch joint legal action in VCAT.

Minister for Planning Richard Wynne spoke with Ross and John, he says there’s two significant parts to his plan.

‘I will this morning launch a joint action in VCAT with the city of Melbourne to compel the site owner to rebuild the Corkman Pub’ he tells 3AW Breakfast.

‘If VCAT rule in our favour, the owner must rebuild in line with both the design, the scale and the layout of the demolished building.’

Wynne told 3AW he will also so introduce further planning control to prevent something like this happening again.
