The state opposition says a proposed pill-testing trial by the Allen government sends the wrong message to kids.

Shadow Minister for Police Brad Battin told 3AW Mornings that he has “great fears” about making excuses for pill testing, rather than looking at alternative models to help reduce the amount of drugs being taken at events such as musical festivals.

“We have great fears about this,” Mr Battin told Tom Elliott.

“I want to teach my kids to say no, rather than to say it’s OK to get a test and see what’s in it.”
