State Opposition will try and block controversial $2 levy when Uber legislation goes to parliament
The state opposition will try and block the controversial $2 levy when legislation legalising Uber goes to state parliament on Wednesday.
The levy would go toward compensating taxi licence holders a maximum of $250,000 for four licences.
Shadow Minister for public transport, David Hodgett, told 3AW Breakfast the levy would hit the most vulnerable.
‘Such as a pensioner taking a short taxi ride down to the doctors, or down the street for their shopping,’ he said.
‘An extra $2 on a $6-8 trip is a massive difference.’
