Former Foreign Affairs minister Bob Carr has remembered former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger as a “statesman of our times” and very witty after he passed away at the age of 100.

He recalled the time the Nobel Peace Prize winner visited Sydney for the Olympics.

“I got a message from his office, he’d be in Sydney, and I said to someone from the protocol office … ‘This is my Olympics, we’re going to treat him with courtesy’ …  He was almost embarrassingly grateful and embraced me with great courtesy,” he told Tony Moclair.
