Stephen Jolly’s strong message to Jacinta Allan as emergency services levy hits the city

City of Yarra Mayor Stephen Jolly has delivered a strong message towards Premier Jacinta Allan, as the anger over the emergency services levy moves from rural areas to the city.

A number of regional councils are fighting the move, and now the Yarra council is considering refusing to collect the tax and mount a legal challenge against it.

“Jacinta Allan wants the councils of Victoria to do her dirty work for her,” Jolly said on 3AW Breakfast.

“Have some balls, if you’re going to bring it in, take it yourself.

“Somebody needs to stand up to this Premier, and if it has to be me, well I’ll do it.”
