Stephen Silvagni says Jed Lamb arrival ‘cancels out’ Troy Menzel departure

Carlton list manager Stephen Silvagni has defended the club’s decision to trade Troy Menzel.

The Blues dominated the second last day of the trade period, gaining pick 8 in this year’s draft, as well as five players.

But sending Menzel to Adelaide left many Carlton fans perplexed and concerned about the club’s goalkicking options next season.

But Silvagni was quick to respond to those fears.

‘I certainly see the replacement of Menzel with (Jed) Lamb,’ he said on 3AW. 

‘A half forward, for a half forward.

‘And we’re bringing in a small forward in (Liam) Sumner.

‘So that probably cancels that out.

‘We’re really happy with our results.’
