Strip club explosion: Caulfield Kittens ruined by fire
UPDATE: Detectives are expected to swoop on an outlaw bikie gang believed to be responsible for a string of violent attacks on two strip clubs across Melbourne.
Kittens strip club in Caulfield on Glenhuntly Road was destroyed in a suspicious fire on Tuesday, which started with an explosion around 3am.
No one was inside, and there are no reports of injuries.
It follows two drive-by shootings at Kittens nightclub in South Melbourne last year, which injured two security guards.
Detective inspector Ian Campbell from the anti-bikie taskforce Echo said it’s part of a wider campaign by an outlaw motorcycle gang muscling in on the security industry.
‘This is not a feud between rival outlaw motorcycle gangs,’ he explained.
‘It is clearly one group of individuals who feel as if they can take over and muscle in on the industry, so to speak.’
