Study suggests parents could be aborting female babies due to male preference

Certain ethnic groups could be aborting female babies because of a preference for sons, a La Trobe University study has revealed.

The study found the ratio of boys being born in certain immigrant groups, such as Indian and Chinese, was much higher than what normally occurred naturally.

“If this is true, I think it is a scandal,” Tom Elliott said.

He spoke with Melbourne GP, Dr Gurdip Aurora, about the study on 3AW Drive.
