‘Such an honour’: Patrick Cripps celebrates Brownlow Medal win
Carlton star Patrick Cripps has won the AFL’s Brownlow Medal after a nail-biting count.
Cripps beat Brisbane’s Lachie Neale by only one vote.
“It’s such an honour,” he told Jacqui Felgate and Jimmy Bartel, filling in for Ross and Russel.
“You don’t get there without a strong backbone, I’ve always said that. It’s not only your family but your partner, it’ a lot of people that put in a lot of hard work.
“It’s pretty crazy.”
Cripps almost didn’t make it to the ceremony — he flew in from overseas just hours before the Brownlow count began!
Speaking early on Monday morning, Cripps admitted he’d had a long night.
“I wouldn’t say I’ve had much sleep yet!,” he said.
