Suns could be set for end of season decision: Lloyd
Are ‘young’ coaches the way to go?
Currently the Gold Coast Suns are struggling under veteran coach Rodney Eade, who has proven himself in the past.
However as his injury-riddled side continue to concede loss after loss, pressure is beginning to mount.
3AW Football expert Matthew Lloyd has been impressed with the way Brendon Bolton, Luke Beveridge and Leon Cameron are performing and believes the Suns might need to make a decision at the end of the season if its poor form continues.
‘He couldn’t have had a worse run with injuries,’ Lloyd said on Sports Today.
‘They have to decide at the end of the year whether they look for the next best young coach in the game that could be better than Rodney, rather than going for Rodney at the end of the year.
‘If they keep playing with the spirit they’re playing with at the moment, where they’ve conceded 70-goals in the last three weeks, I’d go with someone else.’
The Suns are set for a challenging time ahead, with Adelaide, West Coast and the Swans coming up in the next three weeks.
On top of that, injuries to Jaegar O’meara, Michael Rischitelli, David Swallow and Rory Thompson have hurt their cause.
