Superfood health benefits nothing more than a marketing scam
Scientists at Deakin university are debunking the myth that so called ‘superfoods ‘ are the answer to a healthy long life.
Dr Tim Crowe, Nutrition scientist and dietitian from Deakin University, told 3AW Breakfast claims that Chinese goji berries can prevent cancer and wheatgrass will radically improve your health, are ‘nonsense’ and nothing more than a marketing scam.
Dr Crowe said the amount of antioxidants found in a simple apple often outweighs imported and expensive fruit.
‘Anytime you see the superfoods, just think exorbitant prices,’ Dr Crowe told Ross and John. ‘You don’t have to have them imported from an exotic location in the Himalayas…think good old local produce.’
