If you’re thinking about taking a dip in Port Phillip in this humid heat — don’t.

The EPA has deemed all 36 beaches in the bay unsuitable for swimming after downpours in the last few days.

“We advise people to leave it at least 48 hours post large rainfall … before they go swimming again,” EPA chief environmental scientist Mark Taylor told Heidi Murphy, filling in for Tom Elliott.

“After a large event any contaminants in the catchment get into the water system and ultimately reach the ocean.”
