Swimming TV journalist reveals cheeky motive behind mid-report shenanigans
Honey Ryder, eat your heart out.
In scenes (sort of) reminiscent of Ursula Andress’s famous entrance in 007 movie Dr No (pictured above), journalist Paul Dowsley left Seven News viewers double-taking last night when he emerged — fully suited — from Port Phillip in his TV report last night.
It’s hit 40C in the suburbs for the first time since January, leaving Melburnians sweaty under a scorching sun. Cooling down was a challenge for some, while others were happy to soak it in after a mild start to summer. @pauldowsley7 #7News pic.twitter.com/2mfBi3adwx

Dowsley also zipped down a water slide and jogged alongside runners on the Tan as part of his story on Melbourne’s hot weather.
“It was one of the funniest things I’ve seen!”

So what prompted the sudden rush of gonzo journalism?
“Just between you and me,” Dowsley told Kate and Craig on 3AW Breakfast this morning, “I might have worn my worst suit as a bit of a ploy to get a fresh one.”
