Sydney Cup abandoned mid-race

The Sydney Cup has been called off mid-race after two horses lost their riders in the $2 million staying feature.

Who Shot Thebarman and Almoonqith came to grief soon after the field left the home in straight in the Group One race at Randwick, dislodging their respective jockeys Blake Shinn and James Doyle.

The incident left a horse in a distressed state, creating a dangerous situation for the remaining 12 runners and stewards made the decision to call off the race.
