Sydney Road reception centre targeted in early morning blaze

The Phoenicia Reception Centre on Sydney Road, Brunswick has been set alight just after 5am today.

3AW police reporter, Madelaine Burke, says the blaze is the third in a week.

“No arrests over those two fires yet,” she told Ross and Russ.

Victoria Police Sergeant, Julie-Anne Newman says it’s early days and circumstances are unclear.

“We believe it’s at a reception centre,” she said.

Police have confirmed the blaze is being treated as suspicious.
