Sydney Swans set to retire number 37, worn by Adam Goodes
Sydney will decide by the end of the week whether it will retire the No.37 in honour of Adam Goodes, says Sam ‘Scoop’ McClure.
The 3AW newsbreaker said on Sports Today the club would speak with the two-time Brownlow medallist about the idea over the coming days before ultimately reaching its decision.
It’s unclear whether the number would be retired permanently, or for just a few seasons.
Dwayne Russell said he’d have ‘no issue’ with the Swans retiring the number forever.
‘If they think he’s been that iconic for the club, then good on the Sydney footy club for doing it if they want to do it,’ he said on 3AW.
‘I think the Adam Goodes story is completely different to anybody else who has ever played the game.’
