Youth unemployment might be rising, but this man has 50 jobs he can’t fill.

Tasman Market Fresh Meats are looking for 50 new apprentices but despite extensive advertising – just two applications have been received.

And CEO Matt Swindells thinks he knows why. 

‘It’s not a barista in Fitzroy and it’s not a barrister on Collins St, but it doesn’t mean it’s not a cool and interesting and exciting job that you can get passionate about,’ he told Tom Elliott on 3AW Drive.

‘I don’t think the youth are looking broadly enough around what careers may interest them.

‘Give it a go.’
