Tony Holgate doesn’t expect you to believe him, but he’s not backing down.

‘I swear it was a Tasmanian tiger; I don’t care if anyone believes me or not.’

The Venus Bay caravan park operator told 3AW Breakfast he made the alleged sighting about three weeks ago.

He told Justin and Kate he noticed the striped animal among a group of kangaroos.

‘I thought ‘S–t, that’s a strange-looking animal’,’ Mr Holgate said.

Justin: Did you get a photo?

Mr Holgate: I don’t even own a mobile phone, mate.

The last Tasmanian tiger in captivity died at the Hobart zoo in 1936.
