Tax proposal branded ‘complete madness’ by business leader

The Greens have been largely praised over a proposal to revitalise suburban shopping strips post-lockdown, but a key aspect of their policy has “really disturbed” one local business leader.

The minor party wants to introduce a “commercial vacancy tax” that would target landlords with an empty store.

“I just don’t see the connection,” Sam Aldemir, President of the Glenferrie Road Traders Association, told 3AW Drive.
