Taxi driver asks woman if he can touch her

Article image for Taxi driver asks woman if he can touch her

The Taxi Industry Commission has come under fire for the way it handled a complaint by a woman who filmed a driver making inappropriate comments.

The then 21 year old woman – identified only as Julie – says she was surprised to hear the Commission wouldn’t reveal the result of the investigation because of privacy concerns.

Professor Ian Fels, who led the inquiry into the Taxi Industry, says some of his recommendations about the complaints process have been ignored and still needs to be improved.

‘I’d like to know what law protects privacy in this case,’ he said.

‘I don’t think there is.’
