Taxi driver stabbed to death near Fitzroy Town Hall

A taxi driver has been stabbed to death just metres from a police station in Fitzroy.

The terrifying incident happened at the corner of Condell and Napier Streets shortly before midnight on Wednesday.

The man, 31, was found with serious injuries but died at the scene.

It’s unclear why he was attacked.

The Homicide Squad is investigating.

Police wish to speak with a man with light shoulder-length hair, who was seen running down nearby Wood Street with a satchel.
