Taxi drivers to boycott Melbourne Cup carnival in protest of Uber rank at Flemington
Taxi drivers have told 3AW Breakfast they’ll be boycotting the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
It follows a decision to allow Uber to set up a rank at Flemington.
Furious drivers rang Ross and John to announce they’d be bypassing the racetrack in protest.
But the CEO of the Victorian Taxi Association said that wasn’t the answer.
Georgia Nicholls said she understood the frustration and that it highlighted the need for the state government to fast-track reform.
‘We would absolutely encourage drivers to head to Flemington and make sure patrons have a choice of providers on the day,’ she said.
