TAXI STRIKE: Neil Mitchell’s take on UberX anger
Neil Mitchell has urged Melbourne’s cabbies not to alienate their greatest asset: the public.
Taxi drivers are striking today, angry that the government has not done enough to stop UberX from operating in Victoria.
UberX drivers are proving popular for their service level and cheaper prices, but they enter the market with an ‘unfair advantage’ of not having to pay the massive licence prices of taxi drivers.
‘I have sympathy for the taxi drivers, I really do,’ Neil said on 3AW Mornings.
‘But they can’t win if they put the public off-side with constant strikes.’

Neil urged listeners not to use UberX.
‘Uber Black is OK and legal, but UberX I wouldn’t trust.’
