Telstra customers will get another free day of data on April 3 after around 8 million customers were hit by a major network outage on Thursday.

It’s the third major outage for the company in the space of just two months.

The network was down all over Australia on Thursday, with many customers unable to make calls or send texts.

Telstra CEO Andy Penn admitted on Friday it ‘wasn’t good enough’ but couldn’t promise it won’t happen again.

‘It’s unacceptable,’ he told Neil Mitchell.

‘I know how much people rely on our network.’
