All Telstra call centres are now back on Australian shores.

CEO of Telstra, Andy Penn says the change was made because “it’s what our customers want”.

“If you’re an Australian consumer or small business and you call our call centres, you’ll be speaking to someone in Australia,” he told Ross and Russel.

“Our overseas call centres would do a great job but there’s nothing to replace speaking to somebody who can empathise with you in your local community when you’re ringing with a problem.”

Telstra has employed an additional 2000 Australian workers to facilitate the change.
