A woman is lucky to be alive after a savage encounter with a Kangaroo in Melbourne’s North-East.

The 54-year-old personal trainer was out on her morning run when she was attacked.

Debbie Urquhart told 3AW’s Tony Jones she feels lucky to be alive.

‘He came out of nowhere! He was massive and knocked me down.’

She says, ‘He came and hit me like a damn truck.’

Ms Urquhart has now left hospital with dozens of stitches after undergoing emergency surgery.

Debbie has already returned to work, ‘You can’t hold me down for too long, Tony. I have to get on with things.’
