Ten COVID-19 cases emerge at rehabilitation centre in Kew

Nine patients and a staff member at the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre in Kew have tested positive to COVID-19.

Austin Health has confirmed nine patients have been taken from the Mellor Ward to the Austin Hospital with the virus.

All are in a stable condition.

The COVID-positive staff member is in quarantine.

All remaining patients in the Mellor Ward are in isolation.

Patients and staff are being tested as a precaution.

“There are some very, very vulnerable patients in there. Things could go wrong very quickly,” Neil Mitchell said.
