Channel 10 could be moving its news bulletin to a later timeslot to compete with the other commercial networks, according to Entertainment reporter Peter Ford.

The proposed plan could see Stephen Quartermain forced to stay at the desk for “many months”.

“My information is that Quarters has been told that he will read indefinitely,” Pete told Ross and John.

“Indefinitely could be many months, it could even be until the end of next year, when whatever they have up their sleeve will begin.

“There’s some buzz around that maybe there is (a grander plan).”

Pete said that grander plan could mean moving the news service to 6pm or 7pm.

“Maybe in that case they felt they’d need a point of difference, particularly if they were going to 6pm, up against two long standing news presenters,” he said.
