Tesla launches its second generation home battery, the ‘Powerwall 2’
American automaker and energy storage company, Tesla, today launched its second-generation home battery, the Powerwall 2.
Lyndon Rive, Tesla’s vice-president for energy products, told Tom Elliott the main function of the battery is to provide power security.
‘If the grid goes out, you have that assurance you will always have electricity, as a home owner, you won’t even notice the grid not working.’
The new model has double the capacity than the original Powerwall, and can operate with or without solar panels.
