The ‘absolute mess’ coming to Melbourne CBD on Saturday
Multiple protests are set to intersect in Melbourne’s CBD this week, causing what Tom Elliott is describing as a “disastrous” situation.
Four different protest groups will all head to the city on Saturday, stretching Victoria Police’s already-thin resources as they continue to search for alleged police killer Dezi Freeman.
The 3AW Mornings host said local businesses would suffer as people avoid the city protests.

“If you own a business in the CBD – this sort of thing is disastrous,” he said on 3AW.
“The CBD should be a place where we encourage families to come in and shop and eat, but why would you come in (this weekend)?”
“It is an absolute mess.”
Superintendent Troy Papworth said police were calling officers in on their day off ahead of what’s expected to be a “serious” operation in the city.
