The ‘absurd’ and ‘ridiculous’ triple zero calls that are overwhelming the system

Emergency operators in Victoria are facing a surge of trivial calls that are diverting critical resources away from genuine life-threatening emergencies.

Danny Hill, Secretary of the Victorian Ambulance Union, spoke with 3AW Breakfast to highlight the growing pressure on the Triple Zero system caused by nuisance callers.

“There’s people who might need aged care assistance or social assistance; they might be elderly and lonely… and they call because they don’t know who else to call,” says Hill.
