The AFL has named Simon Lethlean as it’s new General Manager of Football Operations

The AFL has named Simon Lethlean as it’s new General Manager of Football Operations, replacing Mark Evans who was appointed CEO of the Gold Coast Suns earlier this week.

Speaking on Sportsday, Mr Lethlean said there is plenty to do.

‘I think there’s certainly some challenges for us, to ensure that kids choose to play our sport at a young age.’

‘On the field, we want this game to be fast and high scoring and still to be the best spectacle in Australian sport.’

Lethlean wouldn’t be drawn on a possible grand final start time.

‘I don’t think there’s any hurry to make a decision on that if the commission are actually looking to make one.’
