The Alfred hospital has slashed the sales of sugary drinks by more than 36,000 a year.

They did this by bumping up prices and hiding them behind the counter.

Kirstan Corban from the Alfred says patients and staff are instead opting for the healthier choices.

She spoke with Ross and John.

‘We call them Green and Amber, using traffic light system.’

Kristan says drinks in the Red light are full sugar soft drinks, large juices and energy drinks, which are still available.

‘They’re stored under the counter and out of sight.’ ? Kristan told 3AW Breakfast.
