The lack of money invested in our Olympic athletes could potentially diminish their future performances.

Commonwealth Games Australia provides more money to athletes and sports than the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC).

Chip Le Grand, chief reporter for The Australian told Sportsday you really have to question what the AOC is there for.

‘You’ve got an independent wealthy organising, the AOC, which lives off a $146 million investment fund and very lucrative sponsorship.

‘But spend very little money on Olympic Sport and Olympic athletes,’ Chip says. 

He says the AOC manages to ‘fulfil its charter’ by taking athletes and teams to the Olympics. 

But the financial support is lacking.
