The argument from bike lane critics that makes this bicycle advocate ‘laugh’
The president of the Australian Cycle Alliance has hit back at claims bike lanes slow down traffic.
“Generally speaking, bike lanes do not slow down traffic,” Edward Hore told 3AW Drive.
“What they do is regulate the traffic a lot better.”
He said he was amused by criticism bike lanes weren’t being used.
“The bikes are zooming straight past,” Hore said.
“I laugh when I hear people say they never see the bike lanes being used – it’s because the bikes are gone, they’ve already left.
“The cars, themselves, are the ones causing the congestion in the first place.”
