There’s a growing gap between what beef producers are being paid for their animals compared to the price in the supermarket.
Farmers are being paid as little as two dollars per kilogram, but the end product is selling for more than $20 a kilogram.
Farmers claim the big fall in the price of beef over the past eight months is not being passed on to consumers, and Victorian beef producer Leonard Vallance says someone is cashing in, but it’s NOT the farmers.
