The ‘big issue’ with intermittent phone coverage in rural Victorian towns

Tony Moclair

Rural Victorian towns such as Healesville and Chum Creek have been affected with intermittent phone coverage recently, worrying residents ahead of bushfire season.

Local Chum Creek resident, Michelle Schiavello, believes the intermittent phone coverage is due to a phone tower which was installed two years ago.

Ms Schiavello is particularly worried for residents with existing health conditions who can’t contact emergency services due to poor phone coverage.

“It is becoming a big issue,” Ms Schiavello told Dee Dee.

The Chum Creek resident has also tried to contact Telstra but has been left frustrated.

“They don’t know what’s going on, there’s no answers,” Ms Schiavello said.
