Victoria Police Media Officer Sam Bidey has delivered a bizarre story to Ross and Russel on 3AW Breakfast, leading Ross to laughingly say it’s the “greatest story in the history of crime”.

Press PLAY to hear the bizarre police story

A would-be car thief attempted to steal a BMW in Baxter earlier this week, when he realised the owner of the car had spotted him and still had his car keys, but instead of attempting to flee, the alleged thief decided to wait in the car for the police to arrive.

It led to one of the simpler arrests for the responding officers!

He was then bailed, and will face the Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 14 November.
