The career where you could receive a $50k bonus to relocate

Early childhood teachers are receiving bonus payments of up to $50,000 for taking up jobs in certain preschools.

The incentive is for those moving to selected regional services more than 60km from home and for those who have switched from teaching or another profession.

About 6000 additional early-childhood educators are required in Victoria, following the new kindergarten reforms.

In Victoria, 82 per cent of early childhood teachers live in Melbourne, and only three per cent live in outer regional areas.

Under a scheme to find workers for hard-to-fill jobs, $9000 incentives are up for grabs to attract teachers from outside the sector, and relocation incentives of between $9000 and $50,000 are also available.

Those receiving $50,000 will get $10,000 on signing, another $10,000 after six months, and then $10,000 a year for three years.
