There is a push in the ACT to lower the voting age to 16.

And Tom Elliott says the concept will gain momentum in Australia’s other states and territories, should it get the tick of approval.

Faith Gordon, Associate Professor for ANU College of Law, said many people aged between 16 and 18 were “very politically engaged” and deserved to have a say.

“It’s great that the ACT is considering this,” she said.

But Tom Elliott says “kids should be kids” and doesn’t think it should change.
