The case for paying teachers more
There are calls to pay teachers more, with a leaked federal government review finding high-achieving students are avoiding jobs in education because of the pay rate.
Adam Voigt, former principal and education leadership expert, told Ross and Russel boosting the top rate to $130,000 would have a significant impact on both attracting people to the job, and keeping those who are already there.
“Three out of five (teachers) quit within the first three to five years,” he said.
“That is creating an enormous hole in the work force.”
