The case to turn an unassuming Melbourne suburb into a second CBD

With Melbourne’s population now above five million, discussions over the need for a second CBD are escalating.

Clayton, Box Hill and Sunshine have been identified as potential locations for a second central hub.

Vice-president of the Sunshine Business Association, Steve Tabban, says Sunshine would make an ideal second CBD.

“With any CBD you need fundamental structures that need to be there,” he told Jacqui Felgate and Jimmy Bartel, filling in for Ross and Russel.

“In terms of being able to support and have the infrastructure for a second CBD it’s definitely got the ground work for it.”
