The CBD trend that’s flipped since the pandemic hit

Prior to COVID-19, weekdays were busier than weekends in the CBD, but that has now flipped.

New data from the City of Melbourne reveals the CBD is now busier on weekends than weekdays.

Lord mayor Sally Capp told Ross and Russel the trend “really highlights the city as a central experience district or central entertainment district”.

During the week, night activity has rebounded more quickly than day visits, with pedestrian movements at night almost back to pre-pandemic levels.
