Starting from July 1 New Zealand will be banning single-use plastic bags used for fruit and vegetables at supermarkets.

Former Queenstown Lakes District mayor, Jim Boult, says there’s been no complaints to him from consumers about the ban.

“Nobody is wound up about this at all, we were at the supermarket the other night and noticed the plastic bags were gone and we’ve got nice little paper bags instead,” he told Heidi Murphy, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
