Tom Elliott couldn’t quite believe a comment made by a WA senator in recent days.

Fatima Payman fronted a Iran event, where she defended the country’s radical Islamist regime and its poor treatment of women.

The 3AW Mornings host said the comments didn’t make sense, considering the country’s poor human rights record.

“I couldn’t believe it when I heard it,” he said on 3AW Mornings.

“Iran backs Hamas and Hezbollah, it is not a place for women.”
