The controversial new tourist taxes impacting travellers in Australia and abroad

Controversial new tourist taxes are becoming more prevalent in Australia and abroad, with a poll by insurance provider InsureandGo showing most Australian are in favour of the taxes on travellers.

CEO of the Australian Travel Industry Association, Dean Long, said Australia has the “highest number of taxes on the tourism industry than any other country”.

“We’ve got plenty of taxes on the tourism industry here, we definitely don’t need any more,” Mr Long told Mark Allen and Jimmy Bartel, filling in on 3AW Breakfast.
