ANZ boss Shayne Elliott says it is unsustainable for society to have large sections of the population working from home most of the time.

While he accepts the days of staff being in the office five days a week are now a thing of the past, a better balance needed to be struck moving forward.

“The problem is we have bought into a belief that it is OK for people to work from home and that their career progression and everything will be alright, and productivity will be the same, and I don’t think that is true,” he told Neil Mitchell on Friday.

“I think we are deluding ourselves.”
