Veteran crime writer and journalist Andrew Rule has gone through the crime stories in 2023 which “jumped out” at him.

Rule stated it’s been a year “marked with a lot of acts of violence, many of them to do with particular groups of people”.

In one of the cases, Rule said it has potential to become “one of the bigger crime stories of 2024” as well as going through some crime statistics, including one statistic which he found particularly “interesting”.
